Frequently Asked Questions
Therapy is a structured confidential process where a trained professional supports individuals, couples, families, or groups explore and address emotional, psychological, behavioral or interpersonal challenges. Therapy aims to reduce emotional distress, improve self-awareness, increase positive coping skills, heal from past experiences, resolve inter- and intrapersonal conflicts, and promote personal growth and well-being.
Therapy is different for everyone. Sometimes it may be a few sessions to address a specific challenge and for others they may decide they want to engage in therapy for longer periods of time. How long one is in therapy will be discussed between you and your therapist and will continuously be addressed to make sure that you are getting what you need out of therapy. We are committed to your healing journey and if you feel a different modality or speciality is important we will support you in accessing alternate resources.
How often you meet for sessions will depend on each person's individual needs. In the beginning we recommend that you meet weekly for at least a few months to become established with your therapist and create momentum for the therapy process. As you work longer with your therapist a discussion around frequency will be addressed.
You can expect to meet with a professional who will support you on your journey. Therapy can be fun, insightful, supportive, and challenging and often brings up many different emotions. When you engage in therapy things can often feel worse before they feel better, but with time and through your hard work things usually feel more manageable, deeper insight is gained, and you are able to handle the challenges that emerge with more ease. Therapy creates space so you can learn how to respond instead of react to situations. Therapy provides a path for you to move towards your greater self.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call the no surprise help desk at 1-800-985-3059.
